Welcome to D.U.C.T Tape!

Welcome to D.U.C.T Tape! You might be wondering how we decided on the name, it’s quite simple really; D.U.C.T stands for Durham University Conservation Team. However, there’s also a bit of a joke surrounding duct tape. You may or may not be aware that there’s the idea you can fix anything with duct tape and if it’s not fixed then you’re not using enough! Of course at no point do we actually fix things with duct tape, but since we conserve things here in the Conservation Department at Durham University, we thought it was a bit of fun!

The name of the blog was actually suggested by one of our current students as we were keen to have their input since they’ll be contributing a fair amount to the content. We loved the idea and thought it was a good reflection of our sense of humour, and so D.U.C.T Tape was born!

This blog has been created in order to show some of the objects myself and my students work on through the year. We’re hoping it will be a great way for prospective students to see what we do and give them a little idea of what to expect should they decide to join us.

We hope you enjoy the site and feel free to get in contact if you have any questions!
